Reading With Dads
Last year, the Brooker Dads were approached by the Reading Leadership team about how to get all children interested in reading. Our goal was to create a fun and exciting program to show the children how important reading is from a different perspective. We recruited numerous men from all types of important jobs and backgrounds. We put them in front of the camera to talk about why reading is so important and what they love about reading. We then had them read a story to the children and videotaped it. After we showed the video on the morning show, we sent 29 Fathers into the classrooms with different books based on the age level. They read several books to the kids and then took some time to talk with them about reading. We are looking forward to repeating this program again this year.
